Channels

Organic. Whether to use Apple Search Ads is still open.

Measuring

The site has no analytics, on purpose.

UTM parameters

Rules: only lowercase letters and hyphens. Always use the same value for the same thing. Put a #anchor after the UTM tags, never before them.

Parameter Value for this campaign
utm_campaign idraw-rescue (always)
utm_source Where the visitor comes from: appstore, idraw-app (Pro app), idraw-demoapp (demo app), graphic-website (our own website), google, reddit, macrumors, apple-community, alternativeto
utm_medium Type of channel: listing (App Store listing), app (link in the app), website (link on our website), cpc (paid click), forum, social
utm_term Search term, for paid search only. In Google Ads: {keyword}
utm_content Which link or variant: marketing-url, support-url, about-menu, footer, demo-notice, timeline-dialog, hero, timeline, pricing, guide-open, ad-a, ad-b

Every link out of the app carries UTM tags. AppIdentity.campaignURL(_:content:) in the app adds them, so the tags are defined in one place. The utm_source depends on the build: idraw-app in the Pro app, idraw-demoapp in the demo app. utm_medium is always app.

Place in the app Base URL utm_content Builds
About screen, “Buy Graphic iDraw Rescue Pro” https://graphic.notbastards.com/appstore about-menu Demo only
About screen, “Why Intel Mac apps are running out of time” https://intelcountdown.com/ about-menu Both
About screen, “Privacy Statement” https://notbastards.com/privacy about-menu Both
“A NOT BASTARDS™ APP” footer (About screen and main window) https://notbastards.com/ footer Both
“Dry run only” notice in the main window https://graphic.notbastards.com/appstore demo-notice Demo only
Graphic/iDraw timeline dialog, “More details” https://intelcountdown.com/ timeline-dialog Both
Graphic/iDraw timeline dialog, “Privacy Statement” https://notbastards.com/privacy timeline-dialog Both

Example, the demo’s About screen: https://graphic.notbastards.com/appstore?utm_source=idraw-demoapp&utm_medium=app&utm_campaign=idraw-rescue&utm_content=about-menu

The footer appears in two places, so footer does not tell them apart.

These tags are not tracking in the sense of Apple’s App Tracking Transparency or the GDPR. They are the same for every user of a build and hold nothing about a person or a device, so the “Data Not Collected” privacy label stays correct. That changes if a tag ever gets a user, device, install or license ID, or if the website joins the tags to cookies or a third-party analytics profile. See also the Not Bastards definition of creepy tracking.

Links from graphic.notbastards.com to our other sites carry UTM tags with utm_source=graphic-website and utm_medium=website. Links within the site (/appstore, /demo, the guides) get no tags: they would only overwrite the source the visitor arrived with.

Place on the website Base URL utm_content
Home page, intro (“a coming macOS release…”) https://intelcountdown.com/ hero
Home page, below the timeline https://intelcountdown.com/ timeline
Home page, pricing (“not bastards”) https://notbastards.com/ pricing
Footer on every page (“NOT BASTARDS™”) https://notbastards.com/ footer
Guide “How to open an .idraw file on a Mac” https://intelcountdown.com/ guide-open

The UTM tags reach the website, but not the App Store. To see sales per source in App Store Connect, /appstore should pass utm_source on as the campaign token (ct) in the App Store link.

Approved in the Strategy & Growth meeting of 24 September 2026.
